The Boston Tea Party
1) When: It would be best to start talking about this event during the first two months of school, which would mean to hopefully be done by the end of September. I want to make sure also by the end of September, the students will know the information by heart from looking at the Web Quest I created.
2) How: On each of the students’ computers I will have the Web Quest bookmarked so they can easily access it anytime without typing out the URL. Then it will be up to the student to click on it and, depending on what grade, go from there. If it is a second grader, he or she would click on their grade and then click on the first tab saying Boston Tea Party. From there they could click on different links provided to look up information, watch videos, or play games associated with the Boston Tea Party.
3) Why: The whole reason that students would go to this part of the Web Quest is to learn about the Boston Tea Party and going to different linked sites to find out more.

Paul Revere’s Ride
1) When: The students would start looking for information on this event during October and going into November a little bit. If students do not understand this event still, then it might have to go till the end of November. I want to expect the students though to have it thoroughly down within the first week of that month.
2) How: Like the previous website, I would have the URL for the Web Quest bookmarked. Then the student will click on their specified grade and then go to the second tab saying Paul Revere’s Ride. There will also be additional links on the left hand side for the student to explore and see any information on who Paul Revere was and why he is known for warning that the British were coming.
3) Why: By having students access the second tab on the Web Quest, it will give them an opportunity to learn about what Paul Revere was doing that night and how come it was significant to ride in the town and warn everybody.

The Underground Railroad
1) When: This will be the last topic to cover for social studies and it has quite a bit of information to go over so if Paul Revere’s Ride gets over that first week in November, then the students will begin that next week to start the Underground Railroad. There is more in depth information to explain with this event, so I would like to have it done before the students’ head home for Christmas Break.
2) How: The Web Quest will be bookmarked already for the students to quickly access and from there he or she will click on their grade. Then they will click the third tab saying the Underground Railroad. Once they enter into the tab, there will be a little bit of information provided and the students should be seeing blue links to other sites. The other sites will be either videos the students can watch or activities they could engage with and have fun.
3) Why: The main reason the students would go on to this tab is learning about not only the Underground Railroad, but also an important historical figure named Harriet Tubman. There would be videos on Harriet Tubman’s story and also what the point of the Underground Railroad was in the first place.

This website is kind of like the previous one mentioned as it lets the students learn about social studies in a fun way. Not only can you look up just history, but there are also other subjects students can learn too. Mostly though, it is essential for the students to learn social studies with videos and assignments that you can print out.
3. Have Fun With History.com
Url: http://www.havefunwithhistory.com

This is another great website for the students to do activities dealing with social studies. Plus the activities could range from watching a video to playing a game about an event that happened like for instance learning about Benjamin Franklin inventing electricity. 4. YouTube: Schoolhouse Rock Videos
Url: http://www.youtube.com/user/SchoolhouseRockVids
Information/Purpose:
Children have to see Schoolhouse Rock during their life, and I think that YouTube is a good source to show them some of the videos. Also for the videos they are categorized in the different subjects so like Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. The social studies topic is the main focus for the students, and there are plenty of videos to show them from the Preamble to women’s rights. The purpose is to show the videos dealing with history to the students and get a kind of different perspective on what happened during an event.
5. Underground Railroad Digital Classroom
Url:http://housedivided.dickinson.edu/ugrr/lesson_plans.html
Information/Purpose:
This is a really good website to simply teach the children about the Underground Railroad and that Harriet Tubman was a big part of it. It has plenty of videos that talk a little about the background of Harriet Tubman helping many slaves escape with the help of the Underground Railroad. The purpose of the website is to help students learn about this important event in history and that Harriet Tubman was pulling a risky move by helping out slaves and making sure not to get caught.
6. WatchKnowLearn.org: Free educational videos. Organized
Url: http://www.watchknowlearn.org/Category.aspx?CategoryID=3503
Information/Purpose:
What I liked about this website is that it has a few videos depicting different ways of explaining the Boston Tea Party. Most children need something that can keep them entertained or at least sit them still for a few minutes, so I think that these videos could provide both of those things for them. The purpose is to have the students watch a couple of the two-minute videos talking about the Boston Tea Party and understand the information given.
